SCC Building Project: Investing in the Kingdom of God
Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 was a historic day for our church. The membership unanimously voted to accept the proposed building project that is displayed on this page. Rarely have there been so many people of like mind working together on any project! We are entering into an exciting time for our church; a time of change.
Phase One: "Operation Breathing Room" added over 1,600 sq. ft. of educational space as well as restroom renovations and a new entry way that serves as a church Welcome Center. This phase was completed in March of 2013. We are seeking God's direction to grow His church as a result of the added educational space. We are looking forward by faith and have cast a vision for future expansion to meet the needs of anticipated growth in the years to come.
This page is designed to inform those who desire more information concerning our church mission and expansion plans. Our goal is not to become a mega-church, but one that is able to meet the needs of the community-at-large, able to train Christian leaders, teachers, and preachers to reproduce other churches as the Lord has commanded.
A population comparison of Shoreline’s community and Shoreline’s church family indicates a close match in almost all age categories. In other words, our church family resembles the families in our community. Our greatest obstacle to physical growth is lack of children’s space. The greatest benefit of expanding our church is being able to attract 18-34 year olds, especially those with children, which is our weakest demographic due to our current building limitations. In fact, our research has shown within a 2-mile radius there are 727 working women with children ages 0-5, 1400 working women with children ages 6-17, and 380 working women with children in both of these age groups. We need a facility that can meet the needs of those families and reach them for Christ!
Our research has also revealed the ministries that will impact our community the most are already in the heart of our congregation. A new church facility will enable us to impact lives for Christ in some or all of the ministries listed below in a more practical and efficient manner. Ministries such as...
1. Divorce Recovery
2. Twelve Step Recovery Programs
3. Church-Sponsored Day School
4. Personal or Family Counseling
5. Food and Clothing Resources
These are the top 5 ministries that fit our immediate area and all are rated to be above average in need!
We are seeking God’s direction and provision to bring this vision into reality. We are asking Him to move people’s hearts to sacrificially sow into this ministry of expansion in order to change lives for Christ’s sake. The giving of your time, talents, and finances will allow you to invest in God’s Kingdom and be blessed in this lifetime in addition to reaping even more blessings in the life to come.
Change is exciting but it can be stressful too. We must not take our eyes off the Lord and His purpose for His church; which is to win others to Christ. We ask for your continued prayers for God to order our footsteps, to prepare the way and keep us focused in all we do for Him.
God is good…all the time!
